In 2001 a cycling event was organized and has grown each year. It was originally called "Operation Red Sleigh Christmas in July Charity Bike Ride"
It has become known as the safest cycling event on the east coast. Since 2001 this organization has relied on the cycling event as the main fundraiser. 2011 will be our tenth annual cycling event. We continue to improve the route, challenge, and support for you.
Each year our number of participants has increased and we have options for all riders, beginners to professional. We are currently looking for ideas to involve the whole family in the event, so check back for updates and express your opinions on the forum below. The terrain and view are beautiful. In prior years we have provided a 100K, 50K, and 20K route.
Experienced riders will enjoy a beautiful ride through southwest Randolph County. Throughout the route you will experience challenging climbs that will bring out the best in you.
Moderate riders will have the choice to challenge themselves on the 75 mile route or ride the 50 mile route. The 50 mileroute has moderate hills and it shares the same majestic views of the 100k.
Beginners have the option of a 20 mile route that has minimal climbs.
All routes will have police escort and emergency service or law enforcement at every intersection for your safety. We will also have a sag wagon available for those with mechanical problems, as well as rest stops every 20 miles.
We want you to experience a challenging and safe ride in the heart of North Carolina while supporting local families in need.
All routes begin at the Seagrove Elementary School in Seagrove, North Carolina, pottery capital of the world and near the North Carolina Zoo. (Click Here for Directions) There is plenty to do so we encourage you bring the whole family and let them experience beautiful Randolph County. http://www.visitrandolphcounty.com
We have also added a Mini-K for the kids. A .63 mile event around Seagrove Elementary School. Click here to download the registration form.
We will also have a shuttle bus that will run back and forth to the North Carolina Zoo for family members.
